With the easing of Covid restrictions, we are now able to gather as a whole school. This means that next week we will be celebrating our first whole school mass for the year where we are all gathered in the Church. The theme of the mass will centre around Reconciliation Week, which begins on Friday, May 27th, and will be led by the Year 5/6B class. I am looking forward to gathering together as a community, as it is something that we have been missing this year.
Last Tuesday evening, 3 students from St Bernadette’s School celebrated the Sacrament of Reconciliation at Holy Spirit Church. The students and their families did a fantastic job throughout the preparation sessions and on the night itself. I want to congratulate Adut, Aerial and Santa on their achievement. The next sacraments we will be celebrating will be Communion and Confirmation. I will be in touch with these families in the coming weeks.
In the School Sport arena, we have quite a few things coming up throughout the rest of the term. Our Junior (R/1) Soccer team begins their season this Saturday, which is very exciting for them. I am looking forward to assisting in their development over the upcoming season. We also have a number of Year 3-6 students who will be involved in two upcoming Catholic Primary School Sporting Carnivals, including Lacrosse (Years 3-6) and Netball (Years 4-6). These carnivals are aimed at encouraging participation, teamwork and enjoyment. I will send out more information on school stream in the coming weeks.
Finally, well done to Willis, Abyss, Brima and Aston for their involvement in the SAPSASA Cross Country event this week. All the boys were competitive and did a great job with their runs. In particular, Aston finished in 5th place for his age group and will now represent the City South District in Cross Country in a fortnight. A fantastic achievement!
