It’s hard to believe we’re already at the halfway point of the school year — the time has truly flown! As we wrap up Semester 1, we take a moment to reflect on all that has been achieved across our classrooms and community. From learning milestones and excursions to liturgies, instrumental evenings, and sporting events, there has been much to celebrate.
Today, Semester 1 reports are being sent home. These reports are an opportunity to acknowledge your child’s growth and progress, both academically and personally. We encourage you to take the time to read through the report together and celebrate the successes — big and small — that have shaped their learning journey so far. You will also note that parent teacher interview booking sheets are included in the envelopes. We invite you to book an interview with your child’s class teacher. These interviews will take place in the first few weeks of term 3. This is a valuable opportunity to reflect on their progress, discuss areas of growth, and set meaningful goals moving forward. Bookings are now open and will close at 9:00pm on Sunday 27th July — End of Week 1.
Staffing News
We are pleased to announce that Mr Daniel Burns has been appointed as Acting APRIM (0.6 FTE) for Terms 3 and 4. As Daniel will be taking long service leave for the first four weeks of Term 3, he will officially begin the APRIM role in Week 5.
The permanent APRIM position will be advertised later this year, commencing in 2026.
To support consistency for students in 4/5B, we’re also pleased to confirm that Miss Jemma Bald will teach the class full-time for the remainder of the year. Jemma already knows the students well and has built strong relationships within the classroom, which will help ensure a smooth and settled second half of the year.
Marlo Draper will also be on leave for Weeks 1 and 2 of Term 3 as she celebrates her honeymoon in Europe. We wish her all the very best for this special time. During her absence, Mr Simon Angley will be teaching the class. Simon has already met the students and worked closely with Marlo to ensure a smooth and consistent start to the term.
Tomorrow morning, we will hold an end-of-semester farewell liturgy for Mr Min at 9:00am in the Commons. All are warmly invited to attend as we gather to give thanks and farewell Matt for his time in our community. If you’re unable to join us for the liturgy, Matt will be at the school gate at the beginning and end of the day for anyone who would like to say goodbye in person. We farewell Matt with deep gratitude for his service to our school and wish him every success and happiness for the future.
Wishing all families a safe and restful break. We look forward to another great term ahead, filled with new learning, fresh energy, and the continued joy of growing together.
As always, I feel truly blessed to work with such a wonderful, trusting and connected community.
God Bless,
Michelle

Last week 2M and 3A went on an exciting excursion to AFL Max. The two classes were very excited to go and play together. As we arrived, the coaches were very welcoming and got things started straight away. The students were able to climb, jump, play team games, and kick the footy together. They learnt how to kick the football and practise their footy skills. The time passed by quickly; with all enjoying every moment! Here are what some of the students in 3A have to say about AFL Max.
Abiral
When I was at AFL Max, my favourite thing was kicking the footy into the wall. We had to try to kick the ball into the holes. I got 3 or 4 in! It was fun and exciting. I want to go back for an excursion or in the holidays.
Patrick
My favourite thing was when I got to kick the footy around. I got a few goals in the wall. My other favourite thing was when I got to do the leap of faith. We had to climb a ladder to a platform, then had to jump off and land on our back. It felt uncomfortable, but I managed to do it, and it was so fun!
Olena
My favourite thing at AFL Max, was when we did the trampolines, because we can bounce so high. I bounced really high, and it was so fun! I also liked when we kicked the footy in the holes. I was about to get one in, but I missed. It was so fun, so I want to go back in the holidays with my friends.
Indigo
My favourite thing at AFL Max was the Ninja Course. It was really hard when you had to grab the rings and the spinning things. There was a big rope you had to get, to climb on the monkey bars. On the trampolines, we could jump and crash into the crash mat. I had a perfect time and would like to go again with my family and friends.

Instrumental Showcases – Term 2
Congratulations to all our instrumental students and ensemble members for their fantastic performances at our Term 2 Instrumental Showcases.
In Week 9, we enjoyed a lovely evening of music featuring students of Mrs Potter and Gabriel, along with our recorder, ukulele and glockenspiel ensembles, and the school choir. We’re now looking forward to hearing James’s students, as well as our Band and Praise Squad, perform tonight. A big shout-out to our Music Captain, Fozan, and Vice Captains, Shanaya and Kabir, for being such brilliant and organised MCs—they kept the night running smoothly with confidence and care.
We are so grateful to our wonderful team of music tutors, who are dedicated to supporting the musical growth of our students at St Bernadette’s. Thank you to all the parents and staff who came along to support the performers—your encouragement makes a big difference. Performing in front of a warm and supportive audience helps students build confidence, resilience, and a real sense of pride in what they’ve achieved. What a joy it is to see our young musicians shine!
We’re looking forward to getting back into the classroom to continue learning, growing, and preparing for our Term 4 Instrumental Showcases!
